The Homestar New Zealand Version 5 Technical Manual prepared by the New Zealand Green Building Council (NZGBC) list various areas where insulation can contribute to the House Homestar rating. This aims to encourage and recognise specification and use of responsibly sourced materials that have lower environmental impacts over their lifetime. Points are awarded under EN3: Sustainable Materials for the material category for meeting various environmental criteria:

  • Enviro Choice NZ certification contribute 1.5 points. 
  • A product specific EPD contributes 1.25 Homestar points. 
  • Our ISO 14001 certification for Pink® Batts® contributes 0.75 points

Did you know that all BRANZ appraised Pink® Batts® glass wool insulation products are certified with Environmental Choice New Zealand (ECNZ) - a level A ecolabel approved by New Zealand Green Building Council (NZGBC)? Not only this, but we were also the first insulation company to achieve Environmental Choice NZ in June 2004; they have recently rebranded as Eco Choice.
